Commuter preferences differ in suburban
counties

• In recent years, the preferred mode of commuting transportation in suburban counties has not told the same
expected story that downtown has.
• While the more distant counties, Lake and Will, seem somewhat similar in their progression towards other
modes of transportation (we speculate ridesharing to play a large part), DuPage continues to see commuters
choose taxicabs more frequently.
• The only unanimous trend that we see throughout the Chicagoland area is an increased propensity to work
from home, which outpaces the increase in labor force in each of the four nearest counties.
