Lab
Experie
nce
• Under the supervision of Dr. James Webster (AMNH), participated in an investigation of how
the volatiles in a magma and crystallization at various pressures and temperatures impact the
chemical evolution of a magma and the influence of volatiles on the melting behavior and
stability of minerals within a melt. Chemical analysis was conducted using a scanning electron
microprobe and petrographic microscopes.
• Mineral and rock identification through petrographic and polarized light microscopy and hand
sample analysis
• Analysis and interpretation of erosion, estuarine and fluvial features
• Preparation of rock samples for analysis by mass spectroscopy, and scanning electron
microscope
