LEADING FROM WITHIN
        A Unique and Alternative Approach to Leadership Development
The behaviour of today’s leaders sometimes falls short of their employers’ expectations. Too often decision
making is made in a reactive rather than responsive fashion and many managers find abrasiveness their
default position. Organisations are increasingly become output led and target driven making ever increasing
demands on managers and their staff. In this climate, it becomes too easy for the manager to take an
authoritarian approach, which is not the best style for individual staff welfare or team performance.

A manager needs to understand fully where leadership style has its origin; this is the best starting point in
ensuring that negative behaviours are minimised and that a positive and supportive environment created.
This makes for an efficient and effective staff team, performing to their best with top performance.


Who is the Workshop For?
Managers wanting to become more effective leaders.

    Better understanding of your unique strengths and how to utilise them for maximum gain.


Method
Delegates will be encouraged to work on real life leadership issues and identify solutions to their own
situations. As with all Equality Edge programmes, this one will be thought provoking and challenging whilst
maintaining its level of enjoyment. Workshops involve exercises in varying dynamics, discussion, sharing of
relevant experience and case studies and facilitator input. An important aspect of the programme is
modelling good practice. “Leading from Within” can also be delivered through individual or group coaching.


Facilitators
Michael Lassman has over twenty-five years experience as an equality and diversity practitioner, coach and
trainer. He developed the “Working with Difference” approach to equality and inclusion which is widely used
in organisations as a personal, leadership and team development tool.
Chris Markiewicz has worked as a trainer, facilitator and coach for the past twenty-one years. As well as
facilitating management and leadership programmes, he specialises in conflict resolution and dealing with
“difficult” people. He has worked for a wealth of organisations across all sectors.
