2. CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19)
• Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease
caused by coronavirus.
• The disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with
symptoms such as a cough, fever and shortness of
breath.
• This virus and disease came into news after the outbreak
began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.
3. HISTORY
• Coronaviruses were first discovered in the 1930s.
• The history of human coronaviruses began in 1965.
• It was found in human embryonic tracheal organ cultures
obtained from the respiratory tract of an adult with a
common cold.
4. SYMPTOMS
• Sickness for 1-14 days before development of symptoms.
• Most common symptoms are fever, tiredness and dry cough.
• Other symptoms include aches and pain, sore throat, shortness of
breath, runny nose and diarrhoea.
