  • 2. leadership  is  innate     Leaders  make  themselves  by  being  pulled   toward  compelling  challenges.         Anyone  who  takes  responsibility  for  a   situa=on,  problem,  or  opportunity,  and   mobilizes  resources  is  a  leader.  (Noel  Tichy)       and  situa2onal

Think  of  2mes  when…   1.  You  felt  compelled  to  step  up  to  a  situa=on,   problem,  or  opportunity  that  required  others   to  join  you.  And  you  did.  And  you  grew.   2.  You  did  not  feel  compelled  to  step  up  to  a   situa=on,  problem,  or  opportunity.  So  you   didn’t.  And  you  cruised.   What  was  different?  
  • 4.     “People  need  leadership”     (so  last  millenia)     When  on  purpose  and  free,  people     lead  themselves  quite  well.   @ChristopherAver  
  • 5. Self-­‐Efficacy   With  high  self-­‐efficacy,   you:     •  see  challenges  as   opportuni=es  to  gain   new  mastery   •  engage  more  deeply   in  ac=vi=es   •  bounce  back  more   rapidly  from  set-­‐ backs     With  low  self-­‐efficacy,  you:       •  avoid  challenges   •  emphasize  your  personal   failings   •  have  liUle  confidence  in   your  abili=es

Developing  Self-­‐Efficacy     Mastery  Experiences     Always  be  mastering   something.       Social  Modeling     Engulf  yourself  with   models.  Be  a  model.     Social  Persuasion     Encourage.  Release   discouragement  and   invalida=on.       Physiological  and   Psychological   Responses     Maintain  physical  and   mental  fitness.
