St. Louis businesses expanding, contracting, etc.
Centene | Health care: expanding
Centene (NYSE: CNC), the largest Medicaid managed-care company in the United States, is planning to populate its two new office towers in
downtown Clayton with over 2,000 employees. Half of these positions will be new jobs with salaries averaging $73,000. The other 1,000 employees
will move from other offices in the St. Louis metro area as Centene consolidates in Clayton.
ConAgra | Food: contracting
ConAgra (NYSE: CAG) is relocating 69 jobs and the production of David sunflower seeds from 8064 Chivvis Drive in Affton, Missouri, to Waterloo,
Iowa. A second Missouri plant will close in Trenton, costing 425 people their jobs. In February, ConAgra closed a third St. Louis plant that made Egg
Beater products and let 75 workers go. TreeHouse Foods (NYSE: THS) acquired ConAgra for $2.7 billion this year.
Goodwin Brothers | Construction: expanding
Goodwin Brothers Construction co. has purchased 29 acres in Baumgartner Industrial Park of south St. Louis city from Fred Weber Inc. for $3.3
million. The site was appraised at $2.31 million. The Goodwin Brothers will occupy an existing warehouse on the parcel while building two office and
maintenance buildings. A move-in date for the company’s 20 employees is set for mid-2017. The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District already has
$8 million in contracts with the Goodwin Brothers in a 20-year, $4.7-billion plan to overhaul the entire metro area’s sewer system. The Goodwin
Brothers are also currently building a 6-million gallon wastewater storage tank by Lambert Airport.
Legacy Building Group | Contractor: expanding
World Wide Technology’s general contractor Legacy Building Group is almost tripling its space. The company just bought 2030 Altom Court, a vacant
flex building of 28,000 square feet, for $1.55 million. World Wide Technology’s new West Port Plaza headquarters is only six blocks away.
Previously, Legacy was in 10,000 square feet of industrial space at 3242 S Kingshighway.
Trans-Lux Corp. | Manufacturing: expanding
Norwalk, Connecticut-based Trans-Lux Corp. (OTCPink: TNLX) is relocating manufacturing operations and 50 jobs from Iowa to Panatonni’s Aviator
business park in St. Louis. JLL represented Panatonni in the 66,000 square-foot deal, filling out the remaining space at 6050-6250 N Lindbergh Blvd.
