St. Louis businesses expanding, contracting, etc.
Centene Corp. | Healthcare: expanding
Centene signed a lease for 117,618 square feet at Timberlake Corporate Center II, the corporation’s third location in Chesterfield. Centene also occupies 31,000
square feet in Woodsmill Commons I and 71,000 square feet in Woodsmill Commons II. Annual revenues reached $16.5 billion in 2014, a 50 percent increase over
2013’s revenues.
Geotechnology | Engineering: expanding
Maryland Heights engineering firm Geotechnology, is expanding across the Midwest. In August, Geotechnology acquired the assets of Thelen Associates, a firm
with four offices and 108 employees in Kentucky. In the last five years, Geotechnology has also acquired Environmental Operations of Illinois LLC and Hall, Blake &
Associates from Memphis. Geotechnology now has ten offices and a total of 280 employees.
Imo’s Pizza | Restaurant chain: expanding
Two vacant buildings at Delmar and 17th Street in downtown St. Louis are undergoing a $5.2 million renovation to become Imo’s Pizza’s new corporate
headquarters, a tourist destination, and a souvenir store rolled into one. The 25-foot sign from Imo’s old headquarters at Hampton Ave and Highway 40 is moving
downtown, too. Imo’s is a privately held company with almost 100 franchises in Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas.
Proctor & Gamble | Manufacturing: expanding
Proctor & Gamble is expanding its St. Louis facility at 169 East Grand Ave to 61 Ferry Street, just across the street. The site, appraised at $2.05 million, will transfer
from the city to Proctor & Gamble for $1.5 million, as part of the city’s larger efforts to redevelop the North Riverfront Business Corridor. Funds from the sale will help
the city relocate the North Refuse Division, which currently occupies the property.
Toyota | Auto: expanding
Ackerman Toyota is relocating from South Kingshighway to three acres on 2000 Hampton Avenue. Construction on the $18 million project begins in December
2015, and the dealership with a 48,450 square-foot showroom will open June 2016. At least 35 new jobs will be added to the payroll. Toyota received $4.4 million in
TIF and $765,000 from a CID sales tax.
