Missouri leads in new business growth
• According the recent Census data, the state of Missouri had the largest increase of new business in the
nation. The 16.7 percent increase was well beyond the next closest state, Kentucky. Only 11 states
posted annual gains with West Virginia and Vermont having the largest percentage losses.
• Small business is a great driver to any economy as they tend to be net gainers of jobs compared to
larger and more mature companies.
