The sun is shining on Missouri
• In the most recent report from the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), Missouri was ranked
11th in solar installations last year. The state has been steadily climbing the rankings and had more
installations than any other state in the Midwest. Only Indiana ranked in the top 25 among Midwestern
states. Installations were up 63 percent from 2013 levels. Nationally, the SEIA is predicting 30 percent
growth in installations this year.
• Several solar companies call St. Louis home, such as SunEdison and Microgrid Solar. Local utility
company Ameren recently finished a new solar field in St. Charles County that contains 19,000 solar
panels. The SEIA report states the solar industry employs 2,500 people across the state of Missouri.
