My heartiest thanks to Mr. Santunu Chakraborty, our respectable DICO sir, for telling me this
wonderful info in a warm evening. Though it gives me sadness for not knowing the fact and
further adrenaline to study my subject better
The connection between cricket and the arts is well known, and rather better catalogued in Wisden
than one might eXpect. Lets take an eXample:
a. Joseph Wells, the father of H. G. Wells, was a professional cricketer who took four wickets in four
balls for Kent against SusseX in 1862.
b. Spencer Austen-Leigh, the great-nephew of Jane Austen, so providing the only known cricketing
connection between Pride and Prejudice and The War of the Worlds.
c. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's obituary in 1931 points out that "although never a famous cricketer, he
could hit hard and bowl slows with a puzzling flight.
Following other eXamples but a bit eXceptional though, X is the only Nobel literature
laureate who played first-class cricket, at least until Dickie Bird is honoured for his writings. X played
twice for Dublin University in first-class fiXtures, against Northampton shire in 1925 and 1926. In the
latter match he made just four and one, opening the batting with C. M. Deverell, who went on to
become Sir Colville Deverell, Governor of the Windward Islands.

As a people of Dakshin Dinajpur, We feel proud to put questions on
Mahisbathan, as this place of Kushmandi block is the home of the wooden mask
makers better known as Kushmandi masks or in colloquial terms “Mukha”.
But do we actually know its history?
Late X, who recently passed away remained a veteran artist practicing the art of
Gomira mask making for more than 50 years. At the age of 14, he carved his first
wooden mask and after his father’s death chose a career in wood carving.
His father used to mould clay dolls for a living, and somehow looking at his
creativity X wanted to try out his creative techniques on various medium. And
that is when X came across carving wood.
When X moved into the village of Mashisbathan in South Dinajpur, he brought
along with him the artistry of carving wood. In his prime days, he had joined a
street theatre company called Lokojaan. Travelling with the theatre
group provided him a window of opportunity to showcase his talent on a national
platform. Gradually he started receiving contracts for making and displaying his
and his students’ works in various exhibitions and fairs across the country. He
had been the person behind keeping the art form alive by teaching the young
people of the area and has been globally recognized as the one of the most
renowned craftsman of his era.

WHAT A COUPLE !!!!
While studying and analyzing information's on Tabla, Indian Theatres and
Bollywood Film Archive, I came through a very surprising fact about one
Veteran and National Award Winning actor who is an eminent director
and screen play writer as well. This genius began serious theatre in 1986
with roles in plays like A View From The Bridge (Arthur Miller), Look Back in
Anger (John Osborne), Ghashiram Kotwal (Vijay Tendulkar). In 1991, he
joined the NSD Repertoire Company – the professional wing of the National
School of Drama – as actor.
The surprising fact is that his family is as versatile as him. He came
from family of art and music. His father was an distinguished vocalist from
Agra Gharana and his mother was considered as one of the first female
tabla players of India (Please be noted that facts told here are before
Anuradha Pal has been described as the "first professional female tabla
player in the world" by Encyclopedia Britannica and the Limca Book of
Records.)
Give me the name of the famous actor and his very famous mother?

An ancient town was once called the Ekamra Kshetra as the
deity of that town was originally under a mango tree (Ekamra)
as noted in Ekamra Purana, a 13th-century Sanskrit treatise.
The _______temple is active in worship practises, unlike
most other temples in that town (now city) and Shiva is
worshipped here as Harihara. The Temple is the largest
and one of the oldest temples of the area. The temple
represents the quintessence of the Kalinga architecture and
culminate the medieval stages of the architectural tradition.
The temple is believed to be built by the kings from
the Somavamsi dynasty, with later additions from
the Ganga rulers. The temple is built in the Deula style of
architecture.

Originally known as sadhir, the Indian classical dance
form of Bharatanatyam owes its current name, to E
Krishna Iyer and X, who has been instrumental in
modifying mainly the Pandanallur
style of Bharatanatyam and bringing it to the global
attention, and removing the eXtraneous sringaar and
erotic elements from the dance, which were the legacy
of its Devadasi association in the past. X, a prominent
Indian theosophist, dancer and choreographer of the
Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam, and an
activist for animal rights and welfare was also the first
woman in Indian history to be nominated a member
of the Rajya Sabha.

“Young Man with a Skull” is a c.1626 painting by the Dutch Golden
Age painter Frans Hals, now situated in the National Gallery, London.
The painting was first documented by Hofstede de Groot in 1910 who
described it as a life-size half-length portrait of Some famous character.
De Groot also wrote that it was exhibited on loan in the Dublin National
Gallery in 1895. He noticed this painting's similarity to another painting
by Hals, and he remarked that in this work the subject's right hand
"formerly rested on a skull which has been painted out". But the
interpretation was questioned and rejected because the presence of that
character had not been recorded in Northern Netherlands in the 1620s. It
is now considered to be a Vanitas, a reminder of the precarious nature of
life and the inevitability of death.
Give me the name of the Character.
If the first interpretation was correct, where very common to us,
would one have seen this work in a Bollywood film around 2014? (

X was a towering figure in the field of sculpture who is widely
considered the father of modern sculpture. He originally
conceived Y (a statue) as part of a large commission, begun in
1880, for a doorway surround called The Gates of Hell. Rodin
based this commission on ”The Divine Comedy” of Dante and
some critics believe that Y originally intended to depict Dante.
Many marble and bronze editions of Y in several sizes were
eXecuted during the lifetime of Rodin and even after his death.
However, the most famous version is the 6 feet (1.8 m)
tall bronze statue that was cast in 1904 and that sits in
the gardens of the Rodin Museum in Paris. This sculpture is
one of the most celebrated sculptures ever known. Y was
originally named ”The Poet” and it is often used as an image to
represent philosophy. It is the most famous work of the greatest
modern sculptor.

A group of 40 prominent writers and literary figures,
including renowned X, issued a statement endorsing
"proclamation of emergency to curb anti-national and
reactionary forces" in 1975, according to the archives of
the Press Information Bureau.
X, as we can call the founding pillar of the “Nayi Kavita
literary movement”, was also a designated member of
“Hindi Kavi Sammelan”. X is best known for his early
work Y, which is a book of 135 "quatrains": verses of four
lines. Y is highly celebrated for its
deeply Sufi incantations and philosophical undertones
and is an important work in the Chhayavaad (Neo-
romanticism) literary movement of early 20th
century Hindi literature.

The major characters of this novel are Dinanath Lahiri, a rich
kindhearted businessman, his nephew, Prabeer Lahiri, a
struggling actor obsessed with his own voice and Mr. Lahiri's
co-passengers on the train: Mr. Naresh Pakrashi, Mr.
Brijmohan Kedia and Mr. G. C. Dhameeja, who is also of
some importance.
Here, in the story, the main character is approached
by an established businessman, Mr. Dinanath Lahiri, claiming
to have mistakenly swapped his suitcase in a train with one
belonging to one of his co-passengers and asks the main
character to return it. This apparently simple problem
takes the main character, his cousin and an eminent writer
to Shimla and into a realm of deceit and mystery involving a
long-forgotten diamond and an old priceless manuscript
titled ”X”, written by Y.

His father was an distinguished vocalist from
Agra Gharana and his mother was considered as one of the first female
tabla players of India (Please be noted that facts told here are before
Anuradha Pal has been described as the "first professional female tabla
player in the world" by Encyclopedia Britannica and the Limca Book of
Records.)
Give me the name of the famous actor and his very famous
mother?

  • 6. My heartiest thanks to Mr. Santunu Chakraborty, our respectable DICO sir, for telling me this wonderful info in a warm evening. Though it gives me sadness for not knowing the fact and further adrenaline to study my subject better The connection between cricket and the arts is well known, and rather better catalogued in Wisden than one might eXpect. Lets take an eXample: a. Joseph Wells, the father of H. G. Wells, was a professional cricketer who took four wickets in four balls for Kent against SusseX in 1862. b. Spencer Austen-Leigh, the great-nephew of Jane Austen, so providing the only known cricketing connection between Pride and Prejudice and The War of the Worlds. c. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's obituary in 1931 points out that "although never a famous cricketer, he could hit hard and bowl slows with a puzzling flight. Following other eXamples but a bit eXceptional though, X is the only Nobel literature laureate who played first-class cricket, at least until Dickie Bird is honoured for his writings. X played twice for Dublin University in first-class fiXtures, against Northampton shire in 1925 and 1926. In the latter match he made just four and one, opening the batting with C. M. Deverell, who went on to become Sir Colville Deverell, Governor of the Windward Islands. Id X

  • 13. 1 As a people of Dakshin Dinajpur, We feel proud to put questions on Mahisbathan, as this place of Kushmandi block is the home of the wooden mask makers better known as Kushmandi masks or in colloquial terms “Mukha”. But do we actually know its history? Late X, who recently passed away remained a veteran artist practicing the art of Gomira mask making for more than 50 years. At the age of 14, he carved his first wooden mask and after his father’s death chose a career in wood carving. His father used to mould clay dolls for a living, and somehow looking at his creativity X wanted to try out his creative techniques on various medium. And that is when X came across carving wood. When X moved into the village of Mashisbathan in South Dinajpur, he brought along with him the artistry of carving wood. In his prime days, he had joined a street theatre company called Lokojaan. Travelling with the theatre group provided him a window of opportunity to showcase his talent on a national platform. • 17. While studying and analyzing information's on Tabla, Indian Theatres and Bollywood Film Archive, I came through a very surprising fact about one Veteran and National Award Winning actor who is an eminent director and screen play writer as well. This genius began serious theatre in 1986 with roles in plays like A View From The Bridge (Arthur Miller), Look Back in Anger (John Osborne), Ghashiram Kotwal (Vijay Tendulkar). In 1991, he joined the NSD Repertoire Company – the professional wing of the National School of Drama – as actor. The surprising fact is that his family is as versatile as him. He came from family of art and music. His father was an distinguished vocalist from Agra Gharana and his mother was considered as one of the first female tabla players of India (Please be noted that facts told here are before Anuradha Pal has been described as the "first professional female tabla player in the world" by Encyclopedia Britannica and the Limca Book of Records.) Give me the name of the famous actor and his very famous mother? 3

  • 19. An ancient town was once called the Ekamra Kshetra as the deity of that town was originally under a mango tree (Ekamra) as noted in Ekamra Purana, a 13th-century Sanskrit treatise. The _______temple is active in worship practises, unlike most other temples in that town (now city) and Shiva is worshipped here as Harihara. The Temple is the largest and one of the oldest temples of the area. The temple represents the quintessence of the Kalinga architecture and culminate the medieval stages of the architectural tradition. The temple is believed to be built by the kings from the Somavamsi dynasty, with later additions from the Ganga rulers. The temple is built in the Deula style of architecture. X, a prominent Indian theosophist, dancer and choreographer of the Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam, and an activist for animal rights and welfare was also the first woman in Indian history to be nominated a member of the Rajya Sabha. • 22. 8 “Young Man with a Skull” is a c.1626 painting by the Dutch Golden Age painter Frans Hals, now situated in the National Gallery, London. The painting was first documented by Hofstede de Groot in 1910 who described it as a life-size half-length portrait of Some famous character. De Groot also wrote that it was exhibited on loan in the Dublin National Gallery in 1895. He noticed this painting's similarity to another painting by Hals, and he remarked that in this work the subject's right hand "formerly rested on a skull which has been painted out". But the interpretation was questioned and rejected because the presence of that character had not been recorded in Northern Netherlands in the 1620s. It is now considered to be a Vanitas, a reminder of the precarious nature of life and the inevitability of death. Give me the name of the Character. If the first interpretation was correct, where very common to us, would one have seen this work in a Bollywood film around 2014? ( Part Marks available) Picture on the next slide

  • 24. 9 X was a towering figure in the field of sculpture who is widely considered the father of modern sculpture. He originally conceived Y (a statue) as part of a large commission, begun in 1880, for a doorway surround called The Gates of Hell. Rodin based this commission on ”The Divine Comedy” of Dante and some critics believe that Y originally intended to depict Dante. Many marble and bronze editions of Y in several sizes were eXecuted during the lifetime of Rodin and even after his death. However, the most famous version is the 6 feet (1.8 m) tall bronze statue that was cast in 1904 and that sits in the gardens of the Rodin Museum in Paris. This sculpture is one of the most celebrated sculptures ever known. Y was originally named ”The Poet” and it is often used as an image to represent philosophy. It is the most famous work of the greatest modern sculptor. Id X & Y (Part Marks available)

Here, in the story, the main character is approached by an established businessman, Mr. Dinanath Lahiri, claiming to have mistakenly swapped his suitcase in a train with one belonging to one of his co-passengers and asks the main character to return it. This apparently simple problem takes the main character, his cousin and an eminent writer to Shimla and into a realm of deceit and mystery involving a long-forgotten diamond and an old priceless manuscript titled ”X”, written by Y. 12

  • 44. 1 As a people of Dakshin Dinajpur, We feel proud to put questions on Mahisbathan, as this place of Kushmandi block is the home of the wooden mask makers better known as Kushmandi masks or in colloquial terms “Mukha”. Gradually he started receiving contracts for making and displaying his and his students’ works in various eXhibitions and fairs across the country. He had been the person behind keeping the art form alive by teaching the young people of the area and has been globally recognized as the one of the most renowned craftsman of his era. ID X

• 66. 8 “Young Man with a Skull” is a c.1626 painting by the Dutch Golden Age painter Frans Hals, now situated in the National Gallery, London. ( Part Marks available)

  • 69. 9 X was a towering figure in the field of sculpture who is widely considered the father of modern sculpture. Id X & Y

A group of 40 prominent writers and literary figures, including renowned X, issued a statement endorsing "proclamation of emergency to curb anti-national and reactionary forces" in 1975, according to the archives of the Press Information Bureau. X, as we can call the founding pillar of the “Nayi Kavita literary movement”, was also a designated member of “Hindi Kavi Sammelan”. X is best known for his early work Y, which is a book of 135 "quatrains": verses of four lines. Y is highly celebrated for its deeply Sufi incantations and philosophical undertones and is an important work in the Chhayavaad (Neo- romanticism) literary movement of early 20th century Hindi literature. The major characters of this novel are Dinanath Lahiri, a rich kindhearted businessman, his nephew, Prabeer Lahiri, a struggling actor obsessed with his own voice and Mr. Lahiri's co-passengers on the train: Mr. Naresh Pakrashi, Mr. Brijmohan Kedia and Mr. G. C. Dhameeja, who is also of some importance. Here, in the story, the main character is approached by an established businessman, Mr. Dinanath Lahiri, claiming to have mistakenly swapped his suitcase in a train with one belonging to one of his co-passengers and asks the main character to return it.
