The connection between cricket and the arts is well known, and rather better catalogued in Wisden
than one might eXpect. Lets take an eXample:
a. Joseph Wells, the father of H. G. Wells, was a professional cricketer who took four wickets in four
balls for Kent against SusseX in 1862.
b. Spencer Austen-Leigh, the great-nephew of Jane Austen, so providing the only known cricketing
connection between Pride and Prejudice and The War of the Worlds.
c. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's obituary in 1931 points out that "although never a famous cricketer, he
could hit hard and bowl slows with a puzzling flight.
Following other eXamples but a bit eXceptional though, X is the only Nobel literature
laureate who played first-class cricket, at least until Dickie Bird is honoured for his writings. X played
twice for Dublin University in first-class fiXtures, against Northampton shire in 1925 and 1926. In the
latter match he made just four and one, opening the batting with C. M. Deverell, who went on to
become Sir Colville Deverell, Governor of the Windward Islands.

As a people of Dakshin Dinajpur, We feel proud to put questions on
Mahisbathan, as this place of Kushmandi block is the home of the wooden mask
makers better known as Kushmandi masks or in colloquial terms âMukhaâ.
But do we actually know its history?
Late X, who recently passed away remained a veteran artist practicing the art of
Gomira mask making for more than 50 years. At the age of 14, he carved his first
wooden mask and after his fatherâs death chose a career in wood carving.
His father used to mould clay dolls for a living, and somehow looking at his
creativity X wanted to try out his creative techniques on various medium. And
that is when X came across carving wood.
When X moved into the village of Mashisbathan in South Dinajpur, he brought
along with him the artistry of carving wood. In his prime days, he had joined a
street theatre company called Lokojaan. Travelling with the theatre
group provided him a window of opportunity to showcase his talent on a national
platform. Gradually he started receiving contracts for making and displaying his
and his studentsâ works in various exhibitions and fairs across the country. He
had been the person behind keeping the art form alive by teaching the young
people of the area and has been globally recognized as the one of the most
renowned craftsman of his era.

âYoung Man with a Skullâ is a c.1626 painting by the Dutch Golden
Age painter Frans Hals, now situated in the National Gallery, London.
The painting was first documented by Hofstede de Groot in 1910 who
described it as a life-size half-length portrait of Some famous character.
De Groot also wrote that it was exhibited on loan in the Dublin National
Gallery in 1895. He noticed this painting's similarity to another painting
by Hals, and he remarked that in this work the subject's right hand
"formerly rested on a skull which has been painted out". But the
interpretation was questioned and rejected because the presence of that
character had not been recorded in Northern Netherlands in the 1620s. It
is now considered to be a Vanitas, a reminder of the precarious nature of
life and the inevitability of death.
Give me the name of the Character.

X was a towering figure in the field of sculpture who is widely
considered the father of modern sculpture. He originally
conceived Y (a statue) as part of a large commission, begun in
1880, for a doorway surround called The Gates of Hell. Rodin
based this commission on âThe Divine Comedyâ of Dante and
some critics believe that Y originally intended to depict Dante.
Many marble and bronze editions of Y in several sizes were
eXecuted during the lifetime of Rodin and even after his death.
However, the most famous version is the 6 feet (1.8 m)
tall bronze statue that was cast in 1904 and that sits in
the gardens of the Rodin Museum in Paris. This sculpture is
one of the most celebrated sculptures ever known. Y was
originally named âThe Poetâ and it is often used as an image to
represent philosophy. It is the most famous work of the greatest
